Chocolate Orange Cocktail

Revive the mystery of the orange with this simple, yet elegant cocktail that marries the traditional holiday flavors of chocolate and orange with yuletide ├ęclat.
  • 2 oz gin
  • 1 oz Cointreau or Grand Marnier
  • 4 dashes orange bitters (I used Regans' Orange Bitters No. 6)
  • Dark chocolate (at least 60% cacao)
  • Twist of orange for garnish (optional)
  1. Fill a cocktail shaker ¾ full with ice
  2. Add the gin, Cointreau, and orange bitters
  3. Stir or shake for at least 30 seconds to ensure the drink is well chilled*
  4. Strain into a cocktail glass
  5. Using a microplaner, cover the top of the drink with chocolate shavings
  6. Garnish with a thin twist of orange in the center of the glass
*Shaking the drink will blend and chill it faster, but will give it a cloudy appearance. Stirring the drink will retain it's translucence, as pictured above.
