The Best Chocolate Rice Krispies Treats – Level up your Rice Krispies treats with this chocolatey and delicious spinoff of the original recipe!
I try to bake with my kids a couple of times each month. It’s largely because I like any excuse to eat baked goods, but also for the opportunity to spend time in the kitchen with my two boys. By far, my family’s favorites are my Chocolate Chip Cookies and Rice Krispies treats.
Sometimes my 7-year-old wants to write his own recipes. Some of his concoctions are a bit inedible and I usually end up trying to steer him in a different creative direction. Recently we were making Rice Krispies treats and he had the idea of melting chocolate into the marshmallow. Finally, I thought, “now that’s a combination I can get behind!”

Hi I noticed that your recipe has more butte, marshmallows and cereal and then the traditional rice crispy treat recipe. Are they still going to turn out the right consistency? They definitely look fantastic and I would like to make them for work

I assure you that the consistency is AWESOME. I adjusted some of the proportions because the effect the chocolate has on the recipe. I’ve made this multiple times and my kids, extended family, and neighbors have all devoured it without a crumb to spare.

Looks like a fabulous recipe. For recipe modification purposes going to cut it in half, and add in crushed Oreos and about a cup of mini marshmallows. Probably topping with crushed Oreos and melted chocolate. (looking to create a new rice crispy treat flavor for our shop…)

I made these for my daughter’s work crew to taste test them for me before I took them to a pot luck. They were a hit; no leftovers. I then made them for my work pot luck again rave reviews.
I did change a couple of things though. I found 16 oz bags so I use the whole bag and I did not divide the mini chocolate bits instead put them all in the marshmallow. I didn’t like the mess the melted chocolate on top made. Just my preference.

Can chocolate flavored rice krispies be used instead of using the chocolate chips ?

Used vegan recipe….did not turn out. Hard hard hard- uneatable! Very disappointing I made them for G-kids. 🙁
